Getting started

What setting up Souffle involves

Most of the setup is decisions your practice has already made — your assumptions, your templates, your brand and your team. This is where each of them goes.

Setup sequence

The sequence below reflects the configuration the software exposes. Timeframes depend on how much data you are bringing across and how many templates you want built before you start.

  1. 01

    Bring your records across

Clients, leads and individuals import in bulk from CSV, and so does every entity type — companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs each have their own CSV import alongside their single-record create flow. Nothing has to be entered twice to get a structure and its members in.

    • Client and lead CSV import

    • Individual, company, trust, partnership and SMSF CSV import

    • Linked entities against the client record

  2. 02

    Set your assumptions

Modelling runs on practice-level settings rather than hidden defaults, so these are set once and every projection follows them. Investor profiles define the strategy behind a recommendation, and tax settings follow the year you are advising on.

    • Economic variables: consumer price index and interest rate

    • Superannuation: AWOTE, CPI, contribution percentage, retirement age

    • Insurance modelling settings

    • Investor profiles: strategy, growth and defensive allocation, franking, income and growth rates

    • Tax settings per tax year, with Medicare levy rates

  3. 03

    Build your templates

Anything the practice sends more than once becomes a template. Document content is assembled from reusable blocks arranged into categories, and processes become workflow templates that can be run for every client.

    • Document categories and reusable content blocks

    • Word and PDF document templates

    • Email templates for reuse and bulk email

    • Questionnaire templates with tags

    • Workflow templates with lists, cards and checklists

  4. 04

    Add your team

Each team member gets the privilege level their role needs, along with the rates that make time reporting meaningful and a signature for the email they send.

    • Privileges: account owner, adviser, paraplanner, research manager, admin assistant, administrator

    • Current hourly rate and default cost rate

    • Email signature and profile per member

    • Task notification subscriptions: new assignments, daily and weekly summaries

  5. 05

    Put your brand on it

Two surfaces face your clients, and both carry your practice rather than ours — the portal clients sign in to, and the onboarding form they complete before they are clients at all.

    • Organisation profile: company name, AFSL name, licence name, logo, address, contact, website and socials

    • Client app theme and branding

    • Onboarding form: primary, secondary and font colours

    • Onboarding form: welcome, thank-you and what-happens-next messaging, plus supporting files

  6. 06

    Open the doors

With the setup in place, clients are invited to their portal from their own record, and new enquiries start arriving through the branded form with their fact find already partly complete.

    • Invite clients to the portal from the client record

    • Configure appointment meeting types and locations

    • Set pre-meeting fact find sections as visible or required
